All the birds fly alabaster around our heads and down the chimney. You take my hand and we walk down the lane together but we end up right back where we started. I find him and you're back with them, but only for awhile. We clash back together and it's sparks again. Sulfur and flint.
A phoenix soars over head, it's vibrant tail flicks across my face and draws tears. You lap them up and carry them with you. I know it's not fair, but that never mattered to me before. Bodies come between us but we can brush them off as tragic inconsistencies. Blue puh-puh-pours from the walls but it's absorbed into the air and we breathe it in... it dyes our skin blue like iodine and we stop inhaling to increase the lovely pigment. I luh-luh-love it.
You rescued me from dragons but the tether snapped and you had to dive. You thought I was gone but it was just a few weeks in the white room. I often wonder if I'll ever finish all that I've started and how it was talking at a face for a while. but then you'd take my lips and I'd forget all about that. Your hands around me, spiraling into darkness and wriggling under my flesh like a parasite.
